High density yeast fermentations

The ABER Biomass Monitor is the perfect piece of equipment for monitoring high-density yeast fermentations

Several respectable papers have been published highlighting the value of using the ABER Instruments Biomass Monitor and supporting its claims to accuracy in real-life Biotech situations. In a paper presented at RAFT San Diego (November 2009) Ingo Knabben from the University of Aachen explained how an elevated headspace pressure (up to 9 bar - overpressure) was used to obtain higher oxygen transfer rates. As part of the experiment it was concluded that the ABER Instruments Biomass Monitor provided reliable capacitance values for biomass concentrations of 176 g/L dry cell weight for a yeast (Arxula adeninivirans) and 85g/L for a bacteria (E. Coli).
