Aber Instruments presented a poster and exhibited at the recent World Brewing Congress in San Diego (July 2004). The WBC conferences held in USA every 4 years are highly regarded on the brewing world circuit.

The poster entitled "On-line biomass monitoring with scanning radio-frequency impedance spectroscopy" was presented by Director, John Carvell. The work shows how additional information on the metabolic state of the yeast or the mean cell diameter could be provided by utilizing the full radio-frequency capacitance spectrum. Moreover, as the method does not require the addition of any reagents or sample pre-treatment, it is ideal for on-line applications.
