At ESACT in Harrogate Aber Instruments took the opportunity to present two new products and also contributed with a poster on using frequency scanning for obtaining more information about changes in the biomass during the cell culture process.
The first new instrument on display was the AberTM Live Cell Analyser 920, a unique dual-purpose instrument for either off-line or on-line measurement of live biomass. It uses the acclaimed state of the art capacitance technology from Aber Instruments that has become the standard measurement for biomass in companies throughout the world. You have the option of taking a sample from a bioreactor or flask and then transferring to the Model 920 for a live biomass measurement. Alternatively, the Live Cell Analyser an can be used as a on-line instrument for bioprocess monitoring and control by connecting to an AberTM biomass probe within your bioreactor. The first of these instruments has already been delivered to a customer in India.
Also on display was the new Biomass Monitor 230. Versions of this instrument are already being used in pilot plants for monitoring fungal and bacterial fermentations but an option is now available for use in cGMP production facilities. Aber Instruments has extensive experience in providing on-line biomass instrumentation for manufacturing facilities in Biopharma.
